CO2 verses EYL -- Carrie, 01:30:15 01/05/04 MonWhich one is the best for medium facial scarring?
I've had both done in the past. I'm scheduled for
the EYL next Thursday... I'm thinking maybe I should
have opted the CO2 instead.
To Cityslicker--eye plastic surgery -- Eve, 14:10:19 01/04/04 Sun
Did you have your surgery done in Houston for your eyes? Was it the same
doctor who did your fat injections? I was planning to have my upper and lower
lids done as I have bags and dark circles under my eyes. So I am very
interested in your experience with your eyes. Exoderm continues to be an
interest to me, but doing something about my eyes is a first priority as I am
told on a consistent basis that I look tired. I want to make sure I don't use
the same doctor you did. Are you happy with the results of your lower lids?Cityslicker, I appreciate your keeping us updated about your experiences.
There are few people that continue to report back on the results of their
procedures.
Exoderm Update -- Cityslicker, 10:31:49 01/04/04 Sun
VS,
I seen your posting and just wanted to update on my Exoderm. My redness was
gone at 6 weeks. I'm fair skin caucasion and no one would even know I had it
done at all, as far as skin tone goes. As far as scars go, I still stand
behind my previous postings about Exoderm being the best treatment I've done
to date. As my skin has continued to rebuild and regenerate I'm still
satisfied with my results. As I re-assess my skin texture though, I would have to rate my scars closer to
40% improvement instead of the 45% to 50% I had originally rated from where my
scars were.Majority of my improvement was stage 1 scars with stage 2 not as good. I know
that the 2 Exoderm touch-ups would help considerably if I can ever make time
to do them. I would do the full face Exoderm again and wouldn't think twice
about it.I haven't posted in a while as I had cosmetic surgery on my eyes and face with
an eye lift upper and lower and implants for my nasal labial folds and
implants around my mouth just below my lips. Also, I had thin lips and had lip
implants. Unfortunately, I'm not thrilled with the results and wish I had
never had the surgery. I had the lip implants removed and often times wish I
could remove the other implants too. It left a few scars on my face where he
made the incision for the implants that turned out to be bigger that he stated
that they would and I'm afraid if I have them removed I'll have bigger scars.
Also, the incision lines he created around my eyes I'm not happy with. I was
expecting the incision lines for my lower eye lift, but he took a scapel and
drew out lines for my upper eye lift just below my brow that I had no idea he
would do. In all the pictures on all the brow lifts I looked at I didn't see
anyone else with these results. It looks unnatural to me, and I wish I could
go back in time and reverse. So....I'm not thrilled with my results and my
acne scars pale in comparison (I thought I'd never say that). Occasionally,
I'll look in the mirror and think it doesn't look real bad and other times I'm
depressed by it. Right now I wear a hat and glasses to hide behind. I was off
work 10 weeks with the Exoderm and my back surgery. I had cosmetic surgery
after my back surgery during the 7 weeks I was recovering from back surgery. A
few people have said I look different but they can't quite put their finger on
why. I've not seen majority of my family since cosmetic surgery. Though, I
seen more than half of my family after Exoderm.I wish you luck in whatever you decide. I wish I could take the time off to do
full face Exoderm again. If I could afford the time and money, I would.
Exoderm concerns--to vs -- Eve, 23:38:57 01/03/04 Sat
You might want to check some of the archives on this message board concerning
Exoderm. I seem to recall it was concluded the person did not die because of
the phenol peel, but I don't remember all the details. The info posted about
New Zealand has been around for awhile. I think Dr. Rullan may even have
answered some questions concerning it on this message board. If you have
serious concerns about it, I suggest you call your doctor and discuss it with
him. I haven't had any personal experiences with Dr. Rullan, but there have
been many positive comments about him on this board. Whatever you do, keep us
posted. I've thought about going to California to see him, as I'm sure others
who read this board have considered. Good Luck.

Exoderm
Phenol : warning concerning topical solutionsNew Zealand. The Ministry of Health has issued a public statement concerning
the safety of phenol solutions after the death of a patient from cardiac
arrhythmia possibly associated with the use of a chemical face peeling
solution containing 64% phenol. The product appears to be marketed under two trade names : Exoderm and Exoderm
Lift. It is manufactured in Israel and is distributed to dermatologists and
plastic surgeons. Exoderm is not approved as a medicine in New Zealand or
Israel.Phenol-containing face-peeling solutions are regarded as medicines in New
Zealand. The safety and efficacy profile of these products has not been
assessed and the Minister has not given consent to the distribution of Exoderm
or any other phenol-containing face-peeling solutions. In view of the Ministry's concerns about the safety of these products, the
Medicines Safety Division recommends practitioners not to use
phenol-containing face-peeling solutions and to check the legal status of any
similar product with which they may wish to treat a patient. They should also
be aware that they are required to fully inform patients of the risks and
benefits of any proposed treatment.Reference: Public Statement, Medicines Safety : Death associated with a face

darn! Oh well. Yes our problems could be just enlarged pores that appeared
rather quickly due to acid/glycolic damage, our older skin may be showing up

your teens and twenties also? I think I read once you are around 28? I am 32
and did have lots of acne and large pores before but the strange orange peel
and texture crap only appeared after glycolic acid.
Let me know when you get your pics up. DO you have before and afters?

exoderm (don't) -- Lawnmow *vs, 01:05:45 01/02/04 FrivS please rethink your decision on exoderm. So far there has been no
conclusive evidence that it helps and it seems the risks far outweigh the
benefits. Please think it through and be sure that u are not merely hitting
out in the dark.
Orangy Peely -- Beth, 13:34:59 01/01/04 Thu
I think it just reduces the oil gland and pore size. I don't think it helps
with real scars. I can't quite figure out what kind of scaring I have. Doctors
have told me that it is just really enlarged pores, but my skin texture is
really weird since that peel. I think the B5 helps, but it will also take a
treatment such as needling to make permanent changes. I will put a picture on
a web site for you in a day or two and post the link here to show you my
texture problem. Hope this helps. Beth
Beth -- Orangy Peely, 07:51:39 01/01/04 ThuTHANK YOU SOOOOO MUCH! I am glad you found something for your skin that is
helping!! Is the B5 making permanent changes in the texture or just helping
texture by reducing the oil output? I will be trying it anyway. THANKS!
ELICINA SUX -- ELICINA HATER, 20:21:19 12/31/03 Wed
SOME1 SHOULD SET UP A WEB SITE DEDICATED TO VICTIMS OF THE ELICINA SCAM WHERE
PEOPLE CAN WRITE DOWN THEIR EXPERIENCE. ONCE WE GET A WHOLE LIST OF COMPLAINTS
(WHICH WON'T BE HARD TO DO) WE CAN SUBMIT IT TO THE APPROPRIATE AUTHORITIES.
PK on Elcina -- PK, 06:55:10 12/31/03 WedCouldn't agree more, that Elcina is utterly useless in the treatment of facial
scarring, and that their advertising is fraudulent. I tried this crap a year
or more ago, tried to return it according to their litany of conditions, they
REFUSED my demand. What a waste of money, just more empty hopes.AND I find it curious that NOWHERE in their literature that accompanies the
product, does it mention ANYTHING about its supposed scar reversal qualities -
touts such things all over its website, but when the product arrives, they are
careful to make no such claims.Any thoughts as to "payback" for this company's deceptive advertising?

Hi everyone, MERRY CHRISTMAS TO YOU ALL.
WELL I JUST GOT BACK IN SAN JOSE from a very long drive from chula vista. I

JAN 5 and 6 is the big day.PLEASE IF ANY OF YOU HAVE HORROR STORIES ABOUT EXODERM LET ME KNOW BEFORE I GO

wow, your website is great!
Smoothbeam Hype -- Concerned in Colorado, 15:32:03 12/20/03 SatDont be sucked in by this new 'Silver Bullet'. Smoothbeam is a complete non
starter. It won`t help acne scars...you`ll be lucky to get a 1% improvement.
Secondly, yes it will tempororily rid you of some acne but you`ll need a
repeat treatment every 3 months and you aren`t guarateed to be clear. This is
yet another marketing ploy to extract money from people`s misery. Its HYPE!!Smoothbeam treats fine lines and wrinkes NOT acne scars, it doesn`t work for
acne scars and never will so save your money and dont line the pockets of
these crooks who will tell you anything to get your cash.
Cameron -- Laser Surgery -- Enid, 02:27:07 12/20/03 Sat
Good luck with your recovery, Cameron. I saw the photos that you posted of
your forehead and it looks great!Like you, I thought that all of my scars were gone after having laser surgery,
but when my face stopped swelling eight days later, I could see them again.
(Sigh.) They are at least 50% softer though, so I am pretty happy.
salycic acid chemical peel question -- Jeannie, 20:42:18 12/19/03 FriI had a salycic acid chemical peel about 2 months ago to treat breakouts and
ever since the peel my skin has looked
"patchy" with areas that appear "chalky white" in contrast
to the surrounding skin. I have very sensitive skin and I
have heard that this could be a reaction to the peel where
it absorbed deeper in those areas.
Has anyone else experienced this side effect?
Does it eventually even out? any info would be helpful.
Enid - Erbium Laser Surgery -- Cameron, 15:37:56 12/19/03 FriThanks for posting pictures. I had CO2 laser resurfacing yesterday, and my
face is very, very swollen too. I had it done on my forehead on Nov. 20 (I did
the rest of my face yesterday), and I noticed that some scarring came back
around day 9 or 10; I guess it was just hidden by my swollen skin before that
time. The results are still very good though. My doctor said that I will
notice changes (some good, some bad) even up to 9 months after the procedure.
So don't jump to any conclusions too early. Good luck!
Guest - Dr Scheibner -- HT, 08:26:47 12/19/03 FriHi Guest
Yes a majority of the pictures contained patients with red marks, the girl who
is coming back every 2 months for photos had shallow indents and red marks,
the red marks have gone and her indents are not as noticeable. She also had
some amazing pics of port-wine birthmarks, totally disappeared after 12
months!
HT, Scheibner -- Guest, 04:49:13 12/19/03 Fri
HT,
You said you saw some pics of a girl whci are taken 2 months after her

from acne??
SmoothBeam -- Eric, 21:30:45 12/18/03 Thu
Dr. Dima Ali in Reston, VA performed my smoothbream treatment: she is one of
the most skilled in this laser and even teaches other doctors to effectively
and safely control the smoothbeam. The procedure took only 20 minutes and was
mildly painful, the side effects were not severe at all, and the results so
far(4 treatments to go) have been good. I look forward to my skin improving
and my scars fading over the next 4 months.
Erbium Laser Surgery -- Enid, 13:31:01 12/18/03 Thu
Hi, I had full-face Erbium laser surgery on December 11, 2003 for moderate
acne scars and I posted some photos that I took during the recovery on my Web
site:http://www.geocities.com/enid_crow/lasersurgery/lasersurgery.htm
Before the surgery, I did not know what to expect during the recovery process
and I was quite nervous. I was really surprised by how big my head swelled up
and by how little pain I felt. I hope that the pictures on my Web site will
help make you feel more comfortable if you are about to be lasered. It has only been eight days since my surgery, so I am still pink and scaly.
But beneath all of the Catrix and Aquaphor (petroleum-based gel that I have to
wear on my face while it heals), my skin texture looks about 60% better.Dr. Maritza Perez, Director of Cosmetic Dermatology at St. Luke's Roosevelt
Hospital in New York City did my surgery at the hospital. It cost $5,000, plus
an initial consulation fee of $150.If you have any questions about the surgery, please feel free to contact me at
enidcrow@hotmail.com. If you've had full-face Erbium laser surgery, I would
love to hear from you too.

To HT- Scheibner -- Guest, 03:46:52 12/18/03 Thu
HT,
How bad is your scarring? Do you have red marks? Did she tell you how many you
would need to get a good improvement?
Dr Scheibner -- HT, 09:44:15 12/17/03 Wed
Hi
I had a consultation with Dr Scheibner yesterday and I have to say after
seeing so many cosmetic surgeons, plastic surgeons etc in the past and not
feeling confident in their abilities it was the first time yesterday I felt
relaxed and thought 'this lady knows what she is talking about'. She didnt try
to sell me anything, she gave me the facts and left it up to me to make the
decision. It will only cost me $600AUS and she recommends another treatment in
12 months (if needed)as she encourages her patients to let the skin rest and
time to rebuild collagen. I told her that I receive N-Lite, she said I could
continue with this but to space the treatments out to 4 months to let your
skin rebuild collagen. So she certainly wasnt trying to sell her laser, she
recommended it because it would be cheaper in the long run and of course her
laser stimulates deeper than N-Lite (though I have had good results with
N-Lite).
I asked so many questions and I never believed that skin can go back to its
original healthy condition but she convinced me otherwise. I also saw someone
who just received treatment and I can certainly say its not anything like Co2
laser, he was slightly pink and puffy. Also the ppl who work for her have the
most amazing skin Ive seen, it was like I stepped into another planet and they
all received the laser for different skin conditions. This is just my opinion
but if anyone has the chance to see her in Sydney please do so, its $75 for
consultaton and you get some of that back on medicare (if you are Australian).
I nearly cancelled 1 hour beforhand as I was just sick of going to ppl that
promise my skin will be 100%. She never made any promises but just listening
to her convinced me I want to give this a go.PK- I told her you said hello, she was so estatic, she couldnt believe it, the
internet does make the place a small world she said and she is looking forward
to seeing you soon! and Thank you again PK for encouraging me to go, it was so
worth it, I cant stop smiling!
A QUESTION TO ANYONE.. -- Daniel, 20:10:55 12/16/03 Tue
Does anyone know how long I should wait after have my cheeks lasered with the
Erbium before I go and get microdermabrasion done for the oarnge peel texture
that has been left behind as a result of the laser? The laser wroked fairly
well for for some excision lines, but I don't know how long I should wait? Its
been a month since i've had the Erbium....or does the oarnge peel texture go
away on its own?Anyone with any advice please say something...Thanks all!!
Isolagn -- Lola, 21:48:36 07/08/03 Tue
Heidi, thanks for your message. I'm glad to hear everythingg is OK and I wish
you all the best on the 22nd. If Dr Chu does perform subcision next time, it
will be the second time. (I've had subcision done twice before by other
doctors also). He performed N-lite on me once but this was more for my red
veins. To everyone else who might be interested, this is what I posted last night on
another board. I was going to post here but had a keyboard problem:
I had my first set of injections today. This involved approx. 30 mins of
numbing cream followed by approx. 45 mins of injections by Dr Chu. He was very
thorough and took great care. He must have injected around 50 to 60 pits and
also did a few frown lines.Immediately after, I had red bumps over most of my face. It is now 8 hours
after and most of the redness and bumps have subsided. It should all be
cleared by tomorrow.Dr Chu said that I was unlikely to notice an improvement till the second set
of injections (the case with many of his patients). Although some of my pits
initially appeared more shallow, I think this was because of swelling. The lab will notify him when the next set of injections is ready (3 to 6
weeks). He said that his patients cells' grew at different rates. One patients
cells were ready in 6 weeks but another had to wait 20 weeks. He also said that Isolagen Labs now recomend 5 sets of injections rather than
3. He will review each patient's progress approx. 2 months after the third set
and then decide if more are required. No special aftercare was prescribed, but I have used CP serum a couple of
times for good measure. As I said before, I think Dr Chu is a great doctor. Besides his experience and
qualifications, he is also very caring and fair. He said some of my scars were
still quite deep and he might perform subcision again next time.I will keep everyone posted but I guess I'm unlikely to see much until after
the next set of injections.

Hey Lola :-)
I was just looking through some of the old posts ... yup that search facility
here ain't no good at all (grins). I'm continually looking .... will post Voy
Forums as well and ask them perhaps if they can write a script specially for
Voy Forums.....Anyway, I found your post and a few others as well ... goes to show what
happens when I don't visit for a while (grins) - I get to miss out on all the
stuff that's happening.I was going to write to you separately and ask you whether it's normal for
injection marks to still be blue and black 2 weeks after injection as my
perlane injections on left hand side of nasial labial lines are still showing
a blue and black line and it's really obvious to me though it kinda hides
under make up. I'm getting a bit concerned that it may be permanent (argh) as
it's over 2 weeks now since my injection. And I'm really pleased with my results as (smiles) I feel much better about
how I look now with the nasial labial lines filled in and less 'age' looking
(grins) .... I'm just really looking forward to my Isolagen biopsy in July as
now that my nasial labial folds are taken care of I'm really really noticing
my acne scarring and redness etc especially as I was/am keeping a video diary
as well for myself. I guess we're our own worst critics .... have nose scars
as well on one side which I've had since a teenager (can't even remember the
acne - then again like any bad memories, I'd rather forget them) ....Best,

FOR LOLA ABOUT ISOLAGEN -- HEIDI, 13:57:12 07/08/03 Tue
LOLA: Glad to hear your progress. I am sorry I dropped out of the scene but I
actually had to have my cells regrown. The first time around for whatever
reason they did not take, but the second time around they grew in five weeks
and I am scheduled to get my injections on July 22. I did not want to post
before because I did not want to drag anyone's hope through the mud (story of
our lives). The only explanation they have given me is stress (quite likely),
smoking and alcohol (I dont smoke) and well sometimes your body behaves in
certain ways. I am glad the cells grew so quickly the second time around
because I wasn't getting scared (I am only 28!). ANYWAY Dr Chu has reassured
all is ok and I believe him. I will have subsiscion on Friday. Can you tell me
how many times you expect to get subsiscion and Nlite done? Thanks
Glad this is happeningHeidi

Hi Heidi,
If you're reading in, how is the progress of your Isolagen treatments
especially now that it's been a while? I rang Isolagen directly and they did
say it's really rare for cells to not grow; and it only happened in several
patients. I assume they didn't charge you to take another biopsy and/or grow
your cells again?I keep getting swayed as to whether or not I want to go ahead with my Isolagen
injections but I guess at the end of the day I'll do it as what do I have to
lose apart from those acne scars and slowly aging skin (argh); and it would be
good to feel a little better about my skin condition ... everyone around me
does seem to be getting younger and all at work seem to have perfect skin -
doh; though there is this one guy who's 27 and he has spots and just sits
there picking at them! Come on!!! He also doesn't seem to scar!JM

Hi Derek,
Thought I'd quickly respond. This board's structure does not promote easily
responding to individual questions. You'll notice that it's just one long
string of entries. I've posted plenty of specific questions and have only once
gotten a specific reply (from maya about this device called a dermaroller
that's turned out to yield less than satisfactory results unfortunately :-(...That said, Christine's reponse was one of hundreds of other entries detailing
personal experiences, regimines, and recommended (and to be avoided) doctors.
It's a matter of sifting through the data.
That one is organized in a very user-friendly way.Good luck finding the information you need.
As a last comment (may as well jump on the cynical bandwagon...Why are there
so few comments about people getting needled? There was a flurry about six
months ago or so, and now hardly a mention. Do people still stand by this
treatment? Is it worth it or do the scars come back or, god forbid, worsen?
Derek, chances are I won't get a reply (reverse psychology--ha!).take care everyone,

2nd Erbium treatment of those excision lines...its now been about 4 weeks now
and it seems to me that the scars seem to fill in more everday....or mabye its
just wishfull thinking!! I know a few people on here have used the Erbium, so
has anyone kept seeing improvement as time went on. Its looking o.k. I guess,
but not as good as I want. My new worry is the excision lines that the doc
lasered. You can totally see where the doc blasted the lines away. There are
no longer lines left, but small little indentions about the size of the tip of
your finger where the lines were lasered away. The doc gave gave me a free
shot of that Radiance filler..(madd props to the doc)...and it kind of worked
on one depression. I'm going back this week and I'm thinking about seeing if
he can fill in the rest of the areas. I know it won't be perfect or anything,
but from what i've read, heard, and learned...a filler can't really make
things much worse. I'll keep ya'll posted on how the Radiance goes. Now for
the dermabrasion that I talked about that I got about 4 months ago.....the
redness is mostly gone now...but I can still see a faint red outline of the
area the derm treated. The areas towards my temples healed up rather nice and
smooth, but as you get closer to my nose I can see them evil looking ice-pick
scars pointing there fingers at me saying "You can't get rid of us..not this
time buddy"...so yeah..they won that time and are still there. So
anyways...back to the laser spots on my cheeks....can anyone tell me when that
waxy look goes away on average. I try to cover the redness up with
make-up....(me being that masculine guy that I am)...but I think the make up
makes it look worse. It just looks red lasered spots covered with make up!!! I
think becuase its just to red still. I want the redness to go away really bad,
becuase i'm tired of hiding out at home...to nervous to go out into this
critical world. When I do manage to gather up the courage to go to the store
and someone looks at me...i'm think to myself..."O-NO...they see the
spots!!..they see the make up!!!.....there looking at those depressions where
the incision lines used to be....AAAAAHHHHHHHH!!!"...so yeah..thats the normal
routine when this guy leaves the house! I just keep hoping that when the
redness fades that the areas blend in to the surrounding skin.....hope is all
that is keeping me from jumping off a bridge right now...but with my luck i'd
trip before I got to the edge...fall down...and get a new scar on my
cheek...!!...just kiddin!! That would suck.. All I know is that when i'm about
5 feet from the mirror you can hardly see anything except the perfect red
outlines....but damn...my eyes are like microscopes...they just zoom right
onto them scars and make it seem like I just took a meat grinder to my face.
I'm also thinking of getting that Intense Pulse Light RF procedure done for
the redness, plus from the studies i've read it also aids in new collagen
production. Has anyone ever done IPL for post laser/dermabrasion erythema?
I've kind of come to the conclusion that i'm going to have scars no matter
what...i'm a guy..what the heck...but this redness is killin me!! Anyone have
any good ideas to help this redness fade? My regime right now is hydroquinone
in the morning and night....and I just started using that CP Serum from
skinbiology.com. I tried those cortisone creams...but man..they just make it
even more red. Well folks..thats all for now...i'll quite here.....O-but
wait...theres more!!One last thing..sorry....Microdermabrasion.....right now I have that whole
oarnge peel texture skin on both cheecks ever since the dermabrasion and the
Erbium laser....does anyone think that Microderm would work for that? Alright
peeps...have a goodnight....and a Merry Christmas if I don't get back here
before than. O-yeah..i'm a 24 year old fella...way cool...and just a little
woried about all the things i've done to my face.

I am sure you are not trying to harm anyones reputaion but was just trying to
share your opinion....In fact i read somewhere(on the net) about her license
being revoked...... Where did you get this information?

Skin Needling -- Schae, 05:24:11 12/13/03 Sat
Hello everyone! I was wondering if anyone knew of a Physician or Esthetician
in the Dallas area that does the Skin Needling procedure? Any information is
appreciated! Thanks!
PK,ROb and Scheibner -- Sweety, 02:53:58 12/13/03 Sat
First of all i want to make it clear that i am not supporting anyone but i
just want to express my opinion too.....I haven't met scheibner yet but i had
some long conv with her several times over the phone.....Rob, let me clarify
this for you....She doesnt do "resurfacing"....her technique is unique in the
sense tat she uses Co2 laser to cause irritation at the dermal layer without
touching your epidermal layer.....And she told me taht i would need 2-3
treatments to see good results and i have shallow scarring except for a couple
of scars.....She neever claimed that all my scars would be gone with just 1
treatment....And she quoted just 1100$(Australian which is 800US ) for the
first treatment and 550 for the rest.....And that covers whole face.....
I cannot tell you for sure taht she didnt burn any patients before.....i dont
know....But i can tell you this...she is a good person with good heart.....She
sounded very genuine and she actually wanted me to wait for a year so i could
get my treatmnets in USA.....And frankly i dont care if she made some mistakes in the past....I mean she is
a human being after all.....And i do agree iwth anna about the skill of a doctor.....
Movie Stars etc etc -- Derek, 22:51:34 12/12/03 Fri
I've seen 2 movie stars who have acne scars, cameron diaz and james woods.
Lately I saw CD on TV & her skin looks great so I got 2 wonder what she did
different over the last say 3 years or so. Also, just a few things: my
cousin made some calls 2 derms & in NYC the cheapest, $200
for a consult --- what a ripoff. I heard from a woman I work with that a
MEDIUM PEEL using a CREAM called Accupeel
works very good. Anyone have any knowledge of that or of
MEDIUM peels in general? I've read through a lot of your
posts here & learned a huge amount.
Hey Rob -- cb, 20:18:47 12/12/03 Fri
Rob~
A casual read of your post dated 12-11 regarding Scheibner seems suspect at
best. It's obvious there is something motivating you to post what you did. I
say this not as a Scheibner advocate, but as someone who frequents these
boards.Instead of posting a bunch of cr*p, try contributing instead. This is a place
where people come to share their experiences, and to ask questions and list
what worked/didn't work for them. If you don't have personal experience being
treated by Dr. Scheibner, then leave it at that, don't say anything.Regards
Dr. Scheibner -- Anna, 17:35:16 12/12/03 Fri
Rob,
I am not going even going into the efficacy issue of Dr. Scheibner's
treatment. The skin is such a variable organ that it is difficult to say with
any certainty which treatment will work on any given individual and which will
not. I will say that were I to consider having any type of laser treatment,
Dr. Scheibner is the only one I would allow near me. Yes, other doctors may
have a Co2 laser and that laser may be adjustable and technically able to
replicate the treatment Dr. Scheibner provides. However, consider the fact
that I have a paintbrush and oil paints, does that mean I can paint the
Sistine Chapel with the same skill as a world class artist? No.Medicine is an art as well as a science. You have hacks and you have genius in
its ranks. I think Dr. Scheibner is among its geniuses. Are all geniuses
perfect? No. Do you think that since 1985 Dr. Scheibner has made no new
discoveries and refinements in her treatment? How unlikely is that? The bottom line of any treatment is if it works for YOU, the fact that
somebody else has success is encouraging before you consider yourself
undergoing treatment and frustrating if you yourself do not derive
satisfactory improvement.Rob, for you to predict that PK will not achieve the degree of improvement she
seeks is extremely mean spirited and pointless. Everybody knows that there is
a risk that any given treatment will fail. However, with the treatment of any
condition the patient's positive outlook is essential. For you to rain on that
is repugnant.Peace.
Anna
Rob, forget checking your sources, first consult a dictionary! -- PK, 15:32:39
12/12/03 Fri
First off, "independent" is spelled with an "e", not an "a".Rob "such a defensive reply?"
I take my valuable time to post to this board my first-hand experiences in the
hope of helping others. You show up and challenge the veracity of virtually
everything I state, as well as the methods and efficacy (that mean's
"effictiveness", Rob) of her treatment."I am quite sure that your scarring will not be improved to the extent in
which you think it will be through the use of this supposed new technique that
Dr Scheibner propogates." Gee, Rob, thanks for the words of encouragement. Is
the "new" technique of which you spoke the one intuited in 1981 and dubbed the
"Scheibner Technique" by Harvard Medical School? Is it THAT one??From a gentle treatment of my skin by Dr. Scheibner I had initally seen an
approximate 10% improvement. Since that time, my skin has continued to improve
as new collagen seems to be forming. NOTHING else I have tried, INCLUDING
TREATMENTS BY LEADING DERMATOLOGIC SURGEONS USING LASERS has had one iota of
impact on my skin. Strike that: in one case, the physician actually HARMED my
skin, perhaps you'd like to read my thread of posts as to just how I arrived
at the offices of Dr. Scheibner in the first place, so as to be knowledgable
in this matter.OF COUSRE anyone considering treatment should independently evaluate, from the
myriad articles, published books, literature and website information, her
ability to help them. Gosh, last time I checked, this site is ALL ABOUT others
trying to evaluate and comment on procedures which have or haven't helped
themselves or others. So what's YOUR beef, "Rob"?In ALL of life we form opinions and evaluate matters based upon third-party
experience, seeing as no one can personally undergo every procedure, view
every movie, dine at every restaurant, travel to every country, buy every
product, use every service, ad nauseum, available to mankind. In virtually
every aspect of life, we form opinions and gain information based upon other's
experience in the same field. So what, are you saying that my meeting patients first hand, seeing with my
own eyes (not some photo) and touching with my own hands, skin which is
perfect, and being shown photos of these identical patients who exhibited
scarring and all manner of skin deformity - that THAT is insufficient proof
upon which to evaluate the effectiveness of this method? When they are singing
the praises of Dr. Scheibner, stating that she has been the ONLY physician
able to help them?? HELLO????????You lastly state "It is not unique to her and it is an insult to other
professionals to think that they too do not have the expertise to be able to
treat patients with a gentle application." E gadds, "Rob", how is posting
about Dr. Scheibner an "insult" to any other practitioner?Makes one ponder just what YOUR motives are and the root of your defensiveness
on behalf of "other professionals".... hummmmmmmmmm... why the invective
toward Dr. Scheibner and me?I have first-hand experience in this matter.. You do not. You have yet to
defend your myriad erroneous statements regarding her website photos,
treatment methods, etc. which I challenged. Doesn't take a rocket scientist to
understand why: you can't.I'm through with this. I have more important things to do than try and explain
the obvious to "Rob".
PK - No song and dance please -- Rob, 13:14:10 12/12/03 FriSuch a defensive reply?
I do hope you are independant when it comes to evaluating Dr Sheibner.
As for what I said? I stand by it all.
When you see that you have at least 80% improvement then post how wonderful
she is.At the moment all you are talking of is third party validation.
I am quite sure that your scarring will not be improved to the extent in which
you think it will be through the use of this supposed new technique that Dr
Scheibner propogates. As for you using simplistic provoaction through challenging my manhood as to
try and get me to say exactly what I mean, well I thought it was very simple,
and if you read it again I am saying when you have experienced amazing results
yourself then post about such results.Hope is one thing but to pass it on to others without actually having great
results to speak of yourself is quite another.I would hate to see others pay good money and fly half way around the world
based on nothing more than your say.I would encourage others to consult with highly qualified and experienced
doctors who are qualified dermatologists (not beauty salon nurses) and also
solely devoted to laser therapy with years of experience and see what they
ahve to say about this supposed new method.Don't let me dissuade you nor PK encourage you. Get professional advice. I am
sure they will tell you what I have been told by doctors who are qualified to
speak on such matters. To you PK,I can only ask if you agree with my advice on others getting an
independant and qualified advice on the techniques she is using.Think about it,all she is doing is manipulating the setting on her Laser. It
is just a laser that others have in their practise just as she does. What is
so revolutionary about that?It is not unique to her and it is an insult to other professionals to think
that they too do not have the expertise to be able to treat patients with a
gentle application.Goodbye and good luck to all.

To Rob -- Guest, 16:12:30 12/11/03 ThuHey Rob,
Where did you get all this info from? I will be devastated if Dr.S's technique
doesnt improve scars as much as i thought......
Dr Scheibner -- Rob, 11:36:52 12/11/03 ThuHey folks,
I have it on very good authority that Dr Sheibner's pictures on her website
(yes the before and after photos) are from as far back as 1985, when she was
practising at Glebe in Sydney.I also have it from a very reliable source that the method she is claiming to
use is nothing more than Co2 re-surfacing and all the claims she makes are
nonsense.Lasers can only do so much and are limited at the moment and yes using
gimmicky sales pithces like softer settings and so forth are nothing but
trying to create a new techique when in fact many techinicians already treat
with varying settings and time application. In the end she is using the same
lasers that are already in use in heaps of places and in fact she has not even
got the whole range. I believe she has only two in her practise in Sydney.Yes some of you will receive 10-30% improvement but you can get that kind of
improvement from other doctors as well.At the moment there is no way to achieve 100% improvement with CURRENT laser
techonology. To think otherwise is really basing your belief on hope rather
than actual research and consultation with many people in the laser field.Sorry but it's true and as for her websites before and after photo's being
current? Not a chance! They are about 12-15 years old. That's way before her
claims of such a revolutionary use of such a common laser!Dr Sheibner was a revolutionary and leader in the field of laser technology
but I am sorry to say that was then and this is now.Sorry but I just could not let it pass no matter how much PK endorses her. As
for PK, when you can write in and say that you have achieved 80% improvement
through her treatment then it is fine to give others such hope. Help the good
doctor get into California and I am sure she will be most appreciative. As for
her losing her licence. She was doped up on meds whilst treating her patients
and conspiracy theories are very lame indeed!

acne and hair -- nella, 23:56:16 12/09/03 Tuehi. i'm skeptically considering doing laser hair removal treatments because i
get hair around my chin. (i'm hesitant because it's new, expensive, and
because most of my pimples and scars are there. but i'm tired of shaving,
which i resorted to after discovering that pulling out the hair seemed to lead
to more pimples.) has anyone researched or experienced anything about this
kind of laser treatment, and is there one that is also safe for acne scars? i
